The 8th Asian Indoor Athletics Championships was held in Tehran, Iran from February 1 to February 3.The only South East Asian nation who competed at this event was Vietnam.
Two Vietnamese athletes collected two medals each to put Vietnam in the medal tally board. These were jumper Bui Thi Thao and long distance runner Thi Oanh Nguyen.
Below are the successful Vietnam athletes at the 8th Asian Indoor Athletics Championships
- Gold - Bui Thi Thao (Women's Long Jump | 6.20m)
- Bronze - Bui Thi Thao (Women's Triple Jump | 13.22m)
- Bronze - Thi Oanh Nguyen (Women’s 3000m | 9:48.48)
- Bronze - Thi Oanh Nguyen (Women’s 1500m | 4:28.87)
Vietnam is expected to collect more medals in athletics at the coming Asian Games in Indonesia and to dominate athletics in 2019 SEA Games in the Philippines.
