The ASEAN Rapid Chess Open 2017 was successfully held at the Grand Darul Makmur Hotel, Kuantan in Pahang, Malaysia which ended last Sunday.The 6-round tournament finished with Emmanuel Senador of the Philippines and Dede Lioe of Indonesia tied with 5.5 points each.
Breaking the tie, it was Lioe of Indonesia who prevailed via superior quotient.Dede Lioe of Indonesia claimed the gold medal while Emmanuel Senador of the Philippines settled for silver medal.
Tied in third place with 5 points were Malaysia's Muhd Syakir Shazmeer Azhar and Abu Bakar Ruzenan.This chess competition was mostly participated by Malaysian chess enthusiasts (42 players) and by the Philippines with two players and one from Indonesia.
