5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games 2017

The 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games 2017 was held in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan from the 17th - 27th of September. For the first time in the history of Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, the national federations from Oceania region are participating along with 45 Asian nations and will be competing in 21 sports with 339 events.
The 21 sports that were being featured in this multi-sporting event were comprised of five Olympic sports (cycling, equestrian, taekwondo, weightlifting and wrestling), five Olympic sports contested only in non-Olympic formats (basketball, athletics, football, swimming and tennis) and eleven non-Olympic sports like bowling, chess, cue sports, dancesport, ju-jitsu, kickboxing, kurash, muaythai, sambo, belt wrestling and traditional wrestling.
All eleven nations from Southeast Asia competed in this event.
