The 2017 Asia Rugby Championship Division 1 was held in Ipoh, Malaysia from May 16 to May 20 with four competing nations.
Southeast Asian countries who participated in this tournament were Philippines and host Malaysia.
Other participating teams were Sri Lanka and United Arab Emirates.
Host Malaysia was declared champion as it swept all its matches to victory while the Philippines just nailed a win.

Meanwhile, 2017 Asia Rugby Championship Division 2 will be held in Taipei, Taiwan on November 15 to November 18 with Thailand and Singapore teams from Southeast Asia to compete against the host and team from India.
