The Philippine Women's National Football Team also known as the Filipinas make their debut game at the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup last July 21 at the Forsyth Barr Stadium, Dunedin in New Zealand. This is the first ever appearance of the Philippines in World Cup and the first time "Lupang Hinirang", the national anthem of the Philippines is played.
The Philippines who is in Group A faced Switzerland in their maiden match, got a strong defense in the first half with the Swiss team holding a strong offense. But it was the Swiss who got the first goal on penalty courtsey of Ramona Bachmann.
Switzerland scored again at the second half by Seraina Piubel at the 64-minute making it a 2-0 victory over the first timer Philippines.
Despite the defeat, the Philippines has shown determination in their game against the Switzerland and it was a very great experience for them as a first timer in the World Cup.
Philippines next game is on July 25 against the host New Zealand and will conclude its Group A campaign on July 30 against Norway. #LabanFilipinas
