Host Philippines and Indonesia ruled the men's events at the recently concluded 1st WSL La Union International Pro that took place in San Juan, La Union.
In the men's longboard event, Rogelio Esquivel of the Philippines took the title after a head-to-head battle against favorite Taka Inoue of Japan. But it was Esquivel who managed to score higher to take the lead and won the event in the men's longboard. Meanwhile, Natsumi Taoka of Japan won the women's longboard title.
For the shortboard event, Indonesian Ketut Agus becomes the first ever La Union International Pro QS3000 Men’s Champion. Agus claimed the biggest win of his career after winning the event and will receive 3000 points to jumpstart his journey to the Challenger Series.
For women's side of shortboard, it was another Japanese surfer Shino Matsuda who claim the crown.
