Carlos Yulo displayed a superb performance in the recently concluded 9th Asian Senior Artistic Gymnastics Championships held in Doha, Qatar.
Yulo bagged four medals including the three gold medals in men's vault, floor exercise and in parallel bars.
But it was in the men's individual all-around event that Yulo won his first medal and it is the first ever medal of the Philippines in the Asian artistic gymnastics championships. Yulo took home the silver medal after scoring a total of 83.767 points from the six apparatus/es.
Following his silver performance, Yulo won the gold medal in his pet event on the third day of action. Yulo scored 14.933 in the men's floor exercise to clinch Philippines' first ever gold medal in the Asian championships. However, Yulo missed to win medal in the rings event but still got high score of 14.000 to finish 4th in the finals.
On the last day of the competition, unstoppable Yulo took the gold medal in the men's vault with 14.884 and another gold medal in parallel bars with a very high score of 15.167 outclassing the other seven finalists including the Chinese gymnasts.
With a high caliber performance in the Asian championships, Yulo wrote another historic event for Philippine gymnastics as the first gymnast to win medal, the first gymnast to win gold medal and the first gymnast to win multiple gold medals in the Asian championships.
Yulo is set to compete in the world championships to be held in Liverpool, England as his next step in reaching his another Olympic stint and to win Philippines' first Olympic medal(s) in gymnastics.
