The 9th Senior Rhythmic Gymnastics Asian Championships was held in Astana, Kazakhstan from June 24 to June 27 with our Southeast Asian teams participating in the tournament - Thailand, Singapore and Philippines.
Six events were at stake in this competition. These are ball, clubs, hoops, ribbon, individual all-around and team events.
In the individual qualification events, our ASEAN gymnasts were in the lower ranks. Thailand gymnasts topped among the Southeast Asian gymnasts in all individual events.
Thailand's Thanyaphat Sungvornyothin was ranked 19th with 12.300 points in the ball apparatus event - the highest score from Southeast Asian gymnasts. She also ranked 17th in the clubs apparatus with 11.700 points. Singapore and Philippines landed in the bottom rank of these events.
In the hoop apparatus individual event, Thailand's Kanpitcha Patanasak finished in 17th place with 11.250 points while compatriot Manatsanan Chaiteerapattarapong landed 18th place with 11.000 points.
The three gymnasts from Thailand topped the other gymnasts from Singapore and the Philippines even although they all not qualified for the finals.
