Five Southeast Asian countries competed at the 2018 Open Belgium Pencak Silat competition held last May 5 to 6 in Schoten-Antwerp, Belgium.These are Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.The Indonesian Pencak Silat team won six gold, two silver, and one bronze medals while team Singapore collected 7 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze medals to emerged as best team of the competition.
Malaysia did not go home empty handed as Jufferi Jamari won the gold medal in the men's class E event defeating Indonesian Komang Harik Adi Putra.
They were also in the finals of women's class B, class D and in men's class B and class C.
Outside Southeast Asia, team Germany won 1 gold and 3 silver medals.
Aside from our SEA nations, the annual Open Belgium Pencak Silat championship was attended by 7 other countries like Netherlands, Britain, Switzerland, USA, Azerbaijan, Austria and host Belgium.The tournament attracted 120 fighters from the mentioned 12 countries.
